Roberta, the frustrated young wife of a bathtub salesman, is fascinated by an ad in the newspaper. "Desperately Wanted: Susan" reads the text, and the sender is a man named Jim who wants to make an appointment in New York's Battery Park. Roberta decides to go to the agreed place and there she is promptly switched with Susan. That's how she meets Jim's friend Dez, who is very charmed by her. But he's not the only one chasing her. There's also a killer on the hunt for a pair of earrings in Susan's possession...

Bought at the thrift shop for a small price. It turned out not to be what I hoped. The story didn't captivate me from the start. Sometimes I get more interested when I watch a movie longer, but with this one my interest waned more and more. It took me a long time to finish it. It took me some effort. Bland humor, a bland story and characters that didn't touch me. I think the acting is decent. The only thing I like is the 80's atmosphere, but that doesn't make up for much. So a low score. 1,5*

Don't like this 80s classic, but it remains an iconic work, in which the fashion phenomena and emancipation from the decade pass by. This was a serious box office success with Madonna whose popularity was soaring at the time. Despite her unimpressive acting career, the role of romper Susan is the one that everyone will remember from her. Arquette and Quinn usually didn't appeal to me in their overly brave performances, but the one that did make me laugh was Gary, Roberta's husband... underrated role. This crazy New York story about a identity switch definitely left a mark in the mid-eighties.
