David, a Jewish-American television host, falls in love with Kurdish belly dancer Layla in New York. She is in danger of being deported from the country and will have to get married to prevent this. The choice will have to be made between David and a conservative Muslim. Layla follows her heart, but her relationship with David creates all kinds of social and cultural problems.
