Cyril falls head over heels for the new girl in his class. Roxy is gorgeous and she's cool. But there is a problem. Cyril is terribly insecure, because he has a rather large nose. And while he's writing songs for and about his lover, he's too shy to let her know they're his, pretending they were written by the handsome Rick, whom he supposes Roxy must admire.

In terms of content, this Cyrano spin-off about a boy who hides from his lover behind someone else is not exactly original. In addition, the film seems mainly intended for rap fans and that disqualifies me in advance. Not a bad teen comedy per se, but I didn't enjoy it much.

A teen comedy from director Aron Lehmann who also co-wrote the script. A teen comedy about an intelligent, sensitive lonely guy, an unwelcome school trip and an unattainable love. A teen comedy based on Cyrano de Bergerac, the 1897 play by Edmond Rostand that has served as a source of inspiration for all kinds of forms of expression in the world of fine arts. Das Schönste Mädchen der Welt is not a unique but a nice adaptation.
The main characters have very appropriately been given the names Cyril and Roxy. The story has been adapted to modern times and broadly follows the basic story. The developments are not very surprising. On the other hand, the film has a fresh look and creates a very pleasant atmosphere. The characters generally make a fairly realistic impression, although for the sake of the story certain characteristics are emphasized somewhat and certain characters are dressed somewhat stereotypically.
It is particularly the charm of the story and the liveliness of the story that are pleasant. After an initial robust introduction, the film slowly colors the characters with great feeling and zooms in deeper on the inner experience. The dialogues may sometimes sound a bit stilted coming from the teenage characters, but they are well written. Pieces of battle rap in which they do not mince their words also provide the dynamics. The short intermezzos with the frustrated teachers who guide the sometimes unhinged group are also fun. The two leading roles of Aaron Hilmer and Luna Wedler respectively are also excellent. Nice movie.
