Dance Flick plot
Megan (Shoshanna Bush) tries to fulfill her dream of becoming a professional dancer at the famous Juilliard dance school in New York. While she is auditioning, her mother is killed in an accident. Megan moves to another city to help her father. There she will fulfill a role at the musical club of the local high school. With the new friends Megan meets there, she still tries to make her dream come true by winning a major national dance competition.

The umpteenth parody of films and in this case it is about parody of dance and music films. Like almost all other parodies, this one was intensely sad. There are a few nice scenes (cameltoe was indeed fun) and then you've had it with this film. Most of the humor is just not funny but intensely sad. Fortunately, this parody is very short at only 73 minutes so that it is easy to watch. But I will definitely not recommend this movie.

The umpteenth nonsense in the parody genre. Everything is way too exaggerated and forced and therefore not funny at all. A few more movies like this and I'm going to bomb the Porkey or Police Academy series into masterpieces.

Saw this parody by accident. I actually wanted to watch Harry Potter on film one, but it was in Dutch. Dance Flick had already been up for half an hour and I thought, let me watch it.
Anyway, I'm always curious about parodies. With for example Monty Python, The Naked Gun, Austin Powers and Scary Movie 1 and 2, a number of successful parodies have come onto the market. In recent years, however, it has not been so good. Dance Flick is another one of those. It's even lamer, even more wrong and deliberately even worse acted. Of course there are also some funny things in Dance Flick like the cameltoe, the Little Miss Sunshine part and Edward Triggerhands. Also, the music is sometimes quite good.

Despite the fact that this film is a parody of films I have not seen, I had a good laugh every now and then.
However, the jokes are all built in the same way. Namely taking literally what someone means figuratively. Towards the end it gets pretty boring. This is not counting the story which of course is about nothing and has no point.

Well.
I'm ashamed to say this, but this made me laugh more than the average comedy. It's a rather special kind of humor that was sometimes not too fun, but in a corny mood this is actually quite funny.
But especially the beginning and the end, they are so dry that the laugh just shoots inside you. The middle part is too weird and not exactly funny anymore. The dryness is also a bit off there, so you don't really wait anymore.
The story itself is of course not an ode, and good or bad acting is often difficult to say here. Some scenes were quite comical, but in general it is quite an adolescent and rather bland film that typically comes from a Wayans person.
