When the two Chicago waitresses Connie and Carla witness the murder of their boss and are forced to flee, they decide to continue their efforts to become a singer in riotous Los Angeles. Connie and Carla are busy looking for a job in the entertainment industry. Who outlines their surprise; they are accepted! It does require a 'little white white lie'; they have to pretend to be men, who pretend to be women again... The transvestite life is going well for them: they are adored by the entire LA gay scene! That success entails difficult but above all comical situations. Things get really complicated when Connie falls in love with straight Jeff, whom Connie only knows as her alter ego... Ultimately, the ladies will have to decide whether they really will give anything for their dream...
