Mediocre dime a dozen Comedy / Romance film, with a nice Mandy Moore in the lead role.
Anna (Mandy Moore) is the daughter of the American president. She escapes from her guards during a concert in Prague with the help of Ben Calder (Matthew Goode). Little does she know that Ben is also a secret agent and that her father wants her to smell freedom in a protective way. The couple goes from Prague via Vienna to Venice and of course they fall in love along the way.
No surprises and it doesn't want to be really interesting either, but it is a romantic comedy (more or less also a road movie) according to a fixed recipe and that with one major flaw, namely the lack of chemistry between the lead actors Mandy Moore and Matthew Goode .

“Can you please stop taking your clothes off around me?”
Cliche rom-com. This does not only apply to the course of the story, but also all the clichés about Americans and the image they have of Europe come to the fore again. Not a big deal, but it does make me laugh. Mandy Moore and Goode are a fun duo and Venice is not a bad place for romance. Unfortunately after a reasonable start it all becomes very predictable, and Chasing Liberty lacks a face of its own.

Good film in which the teenage daughter of the American president has trouble dating because of constant security. An entertaining setup for an otherwise fairly standard and predictable romcom. Partly because of the half round trip through Europe, the whole looks easy. Also a fine cast and mainly because of the endearing Mandy Moore just 3.5 stars.
