Jean Harlow is perfect as a sex symbol and fiercely surrounded Hollywood star, unfortunately in a film in which the constant talking and shouting only gets boring.

In this film the dialogues are fired at a dizzying speed, so as a viewer you have to keep your wits about you so as not to miss any jokes and subtleties. The film also reminded me of a stage comedy, and it turns out that it is indeed an adaptation of a play. The script has a self-ironic undertone, interweaving reality and fiction about Jean Harlow and her character Lola Burns. Jean Harlow certainly has the right qualities as a comedienne, although I think her voice is not that carrying, and I don't think she is particularly beautiful for a Hollywood star of that stature. The rest of the cast also does a great job in delivering long lines of text.

The direction is in the hands of the legendary Victor Fleming and is of a high standard. The opening scene is a strong starter.

Bombshell is a pre-code screwball comedy that delivers as far as I'm concerned.

Very busy film and that gets on your nerves a bit at a certain point.
