Fresh B-movie.

At times, it feels like a really good student film. The budget is paltry, but that doesn't spoil the fun. The special effects are generally good, but the film's greatest strength lies in its fresh take on vampire movies. It also manages to weave socially relevant statements into the genre that haven't been made before.

I hope Elmore gets a bigger budget for his next project, because with this film, he's certainly shown himself to be a compelling storyteller. Perhaps only as a writer, and a stronger director can elevate his next story, especially visually.

Tiring trans/cis/non-binary/genderfluide/feminist/anti-male vampire film. As a genre film, not worth a damn. Assassination Nation (2018) dealt with similar themes, but managed to make it fit and natural within its self-created world. Here, it feels so forcedly written (by a man, by the way) that it simply doesn't work. Like some kind of wannabe Lost Boys feminazi group, but without personality. The message; go for it. The execution, however...
