Bickford Shmeckler (Patrick Fugit) is in college and has family problems at home. In order to process these, he invents all kinds of ideas that he incorporates into a book. Sarah (Olivia Wilde) finds the book and starts reading it. She is so impressed by Bickford's book that she steals it, turning his ideas into legend.
