"Life is about knowing how to take a hit."
When Ed Wallis starts a new school in a new city, his classmates quickly assume he's a loser, even though he's the smartest and funniest in the class. His first assignment is to write an essay about someone from an older generation. For this, he goes to his reclusive neighbor, Ashby, who agrees if Ed promises to drive him around town when he needs to run errands. What Ed doesn't know, though, is that Ashby is a retired CIA hit man with only months to live.
