"America's Most Natural Screen Comedian in a Picture Founded upon a Story by America's Greatest Short Story Writer"

Whistling Dick is a bum who loves life and classical music. He just doesn't like to work. Traveling to southern New Orleans for the winter, he learns that some fellow hobos plan to rob a plantation on Christmas Eve. Now Dick is friends with Nadine, the daughter of plantation owner Lovejoy and the crooks are also aware of this. Afraid that Dick will inform Lovejoy, they capture him. Dick just manages to write a note, put it in a sock, weighted down with a rock, and throw it all through the window of Lovejoy's dining room.
