Almost Summer plot

The students at Pacific High School in California find themselves on the eve of the student council presidential election, and one candidate has to suddenly withdraw. Bobbi DeVito, who has bet heavily on the outgoing candidate, decides to look for a replacement. He ends up with the shy Darryl Fitzgerald, who now has to face Christine, the most popular girl in the school. No one knows Darryl though, so it's up to the wily Bobby to make Darryl popular.
