All's Well That Ends Well plot
When Helen, the daughter of a doctor, heals the critically ill king of France, he allows her to marry a nobleman from his household. She chooses Bertram, the Count of Rousillon. He doesn't feel like this, but he is forced into a marriage. Not wishing to consummate the marriage, Bertram rushes to the war that is developing in Tuscany. He is assisted in this by his friend, the lying boaster Parolles. He sends Helen a letter informing her that she cannot consider him her husband until she manages to remove the ring from his finger and become pregnant with his child. However, Helena does not want to lose her husband and develops a plan to win him over.
