All American Chump plot
"Elected! The Laughing Hit!"
Fairground operator Bill Hogan walks into a bank to borrow money and meets math whiz Elmer Lamb. Elmer decides to travel with the circus. On the train they meet bridge champion J. Montgomery Brantley. Even though Elmer has never played bridge before, he easily beats the champion. Bill decides to call the newspapers to report Brantley's loss and challenge him to a grand national bridge match between Elmer and the champion. Elmer is now much more interested in Kitty, Bill's girlfriend.
