The naive country girl Mariana arrives in Rio de Janeiro, where she tries to find her betrothed. With only a photo and no phone number or address, she tries to find him. She is staying with her relatives and they find out that Mariana is pregnant. Her family helps her find José da Silva, her betrothed.
