A Slight Case of Murder plot

When film critic Terry Thorpe accidentally kills his mistress, he tries to cover up his presence in her apartment to make her death look like an accident. However, the private detective of the victim's ex-husband has photos that prove his guilt. Before going to the police, the detective gives Terry a chance to buy the photos and negatives. Terry accepts this offer, but as soon as he has the incriminating material in his hands, he decides to turn the tables. With any luck, he can link the private detective to the murder. However, he does not intend to let this happen just like that, so Terry has to use all his knowledge of crime films to save his skin.
