"An extraordinary tale of an ordinary hero"
Alfie Byrne is a bus conductor in Dublin and lives with his sister. A very ordinary man, but with a passion for Oscar Wilde. Adele Rice is new to Dublin. One day when she gets on his bus, Alfie has found his Salome and he sets to work to realize his long-cherished dream of directing an Oscar Wilde play. He even asks Robbie, a young bus driver he has quietly loved. The play provokes resistance from conservative Carney, protagonist, who tries to turn the other actors against Alfie.
