It is 1963, in the middle of the rise of women's emancipation. Tove Ditlevsen is one of the most praised female authors of her generation and with her writing gives a voice to previously oppressed women. However, within the walls of her Copenhagen apartment, Tove is still fighting a battle; the one against her manipulative husband Victor. Her talent is undeniable, but Victor's jealousy is immeasurable. The sadistic editor-in-chief cannot accept the fact that his wife has more influence and is widely praised. Just as their power struggle comes to a head, their lunch guest arrives at the door; the promising young author Klaus Rifbierg, whom Tove greatly admires
