The Express plot
"He changed our country... one yard at a time."
The life story of football player Ernie Davis (Rob Brown), who became the first black player to win the Heisman Trophy. As a little boy in Elmira, New York, in the late 1940s he already experienced the racist treatment of his peers and when he is lured to Syracuse University by coach Schwartzwalder years later, it is no different there. However, Ernie has an exceptional talent with which he takes his team in tow. Also in the Southern States, where he realizes that he has to play not only for himself and his team, but for all his fellow sufferers.
