Song of Granite plot
Joe Heaney was an Irish singer who specialized in traditional Irish folk songs. He was born in 1919 and was very shy at a young age. He started singing when he was five years old, but did not dare to perform in front of an audience until he was twenty. Due to his success, Heaney was able to afford to travel to England, Scotland and New York before finally settling in Seattle where he died in 1984. During his lifetime, Heaney sang over five hundred traditional Irish folk songs, most of which he learned by heart when he was young.
