Interesting biopic about Rosa Luxemburg, a lady who, at the beginning of the 20th century, besides her very thorough and personal socialist views, was especially zealous for pacifism to which the German leaders did not heed (resulting in the First World War) and her opinions as a danger to the nation, resulting in deprivation of liberty.

A historical account that is well explained, although some things require some attention, especially when the main character is passionate about her speeches that support her opinions.

Good acting, after which Barbara Sukowa was awarded best actress in Cannes.

Margerethe von Trotte has already expressed sympathy for the Marxist struggle in Die bleierne Zeit.

This is also the case in this biographical film about Rosa Luxemburg.

Feminism is touched upon during a dinner. But that's secondary. The pacifism of Rote Rosa is paramount. She almost has a heart attack when the German soldiers march to the front.

However, the call for non-violent resistance and an end to senseless bloodshed in the Spartacus uprising is a falsification of history.

"Die Gegenrevolution entwaffnen, die Massen, occupy all Positions of Power!"

(January 7, 1919)

So much for the pacifism and democracy of Rosa Luxemburg.

Fortunately, Daniel Olbrychski in the role of Leo Jogiches gives some rest in this interesting film.
