Informative film about the turbulent and tragic life of Dalida, always surrounded by a hint of death and destruction, comparable in terms of tragedy to the life of that other figurehead of the French anthem, Edith Piaf. Remarkably strong rendition by Sveva Alviti (never heard of it), but it is of course mainly the music that makes this an entertaining film.

Maybe except for "Gigi, l'Amoroso", which the whole world, big and small, sang along with, I've always found Dalida a kind of "singer for adults".

How sultry in her performance, mysterious, a bit femme fatale and very special compared to Haliday, Sylvie Vartan, Sheila and others who ruled the French pop world at the time. Even different from the many chansoniers that followed.

Loved her performances and songs, with meaningful lyrics, her Italian accent, letting the "r's" roll nicely, although I didn't like her Disco period, but it proves her versatility, although that was of course very cleverly played out commercially.

Happy to have seen this film, to enjoy the music and to learn a lot about her private life and thus "the human being" Dalida.

Performer Sveva Alviti, does have some physionomy, but also knows very well how to put the necessary emotions into her act and to revive Dalida.

Good, intelligently constructed film about one of the most striking female singers in the French music world of the last century.

It would be easy to sneer at yet another biopic, a genre that is much maligned, and there are usually good reasons for that. The so-called 'filmed Wikipedia article' is something that the average cinephile turns his nose up at. This 'Dalida' also seems prima facie to belong to that mess, although the film is told in a non-chronological way - but yes, that too has long since become a known gimmick. It's actually only towards the end of the film that I'm deeply moved by it. This happens at an unexpected time. Dalida has reinvented herself again for the umpteenth time, walks the disco paths and brings 'Laissez-moi dancer'. The way Azuelos films this moment is tragic in its beauty. No matter how upbeat and fussy the song may sound, we are overwhelmed by Dalida's enthusiasm. She seems to live in different spheres than we mortals. We also feel the singer's urgency to express herself at all costs, not for career reasons, but as if she were propelled by a vital life force. A life force that Azuelos was clearly affected by and made a beautiful tribute to.
