Control plot
"He had the spirit, but lost the feeling."
Biopic about Ian Curtis, the legendary singer of the British band Joy Division, who committed suicide at the age of 23, on the eve of their first concert tour in the US. The film highlights his great love for his wife Deborah and their child, despite a budding romance with a Belgian rock journalist and his seizures and all the energy-consuming performances with his band.

My goodness what a movie! Sam Riley is Ian Curtis! Literally overwhelming! The eyes, the expression, the dance... Riley does it!
Nice moody atmosphere from start to finish. Great choice to do the film in black and white. Emphasizes just a little more the emptiness, the atmosphere and the austere flats and English neighborhoods and of course the melancholy of Curtis. Then also a beautiful image of the time with simple things such as how his wife hangs up the laundry. Also very stylish, the distraught voice overs the eve of their America tour
Wonderful music, of course by Joy Division himself, but also by David Bowie and The Sex Pistols.
Furthermore, it is always a joy to get a picture of Maria Lara, a beautiful woman that is, always again. And also worth mentioning, Toby Kebbell, the rude and sarcastic manager.
Note heavy drama in that view, not for everyone.
