Anita plot
The Queen of Cantopop, Anita Mui is the definition of a Hong Kong cultural icon. The film follows her extensive career, starting with her last concert in 2003, then looking back on her life and legacy. Mui started singing at an amusement park once at the age of 4, but quickly rose to fame and devoted her entire life to music. Her captivating stage presence and commitment to charitable projects earned her the nickname 'Daughter of Hong Kong'.

Perhaps to my shame, I must confess that I had never heard of Anita Mui before seeing this film. I am all the more pleasantly surprised by this biopic about that Far Eastern superstar, the “daughter of Hong Kong”. According to some film critics, there are gaps in the story related to the censorship, but I was not bothered by that in my ignorance. What I have seen is a beautiful film with a dramatic biography and nice music. Newcomer Louise Wong plays the stars of heaven in the title role. I have become curious about films in which Anita Mui herself appears.
