Slightly better on revision.

A bit ironic, because despite the fact that the technical superiority of this film has been completely snowed under in the meantime, I could appreciate the look a little better. I continue to find it quite ugly, but at least getting used to it has ensured that I no longer have such a great aversion to it.

Furthermore, the technical competences are not that many proposals over the years, the film looks quite old and roughly finished, especially the backgrounds and the people are quite undetailed. Fortunately, the animation itself is still okay, especially the animation details of Boo make her a nice character. One of the few in Pixar movies.

I was also a little better at the concept this time. It remains the typical Pixar setup (monsters as the norm and people as the "others"), but the implementation is at least a bit original. Unfortunately, once the setting has been established, it soon gets boring, with a lame bad guy, a plot twist and some chases.

But in general I was able to enjoy it a little better than the first time. Boo is still the highlight of this Pixar, the rest I found a little less disturbing. Add half.

1.5*

Watched with daughter. It's been a while since I've seen Monsters Inc. Unbelievable actually that this Pixar has already 20 years on the counter. Still one of the better Pixars I think. The approach in particular remains fine, whereby a certain human behaviour/situation or cultural phenomenon is explained/imagined in an accessible fairytale-like original way. Coco (2017) had that with the dead and the Toy story franchise also had that magical approach. Also at Monsters Inc you will find this with the scary dreams of children about the monster sitting under the bed ...

That is why the first half hour of Monsters Inc is very strong. Afterwards, the film falls into clichés and unmemorable scenes. Fortunately, the two protagonists make up for a lot. Some humor here and there and especially inventive characters passing by the screen. Not great in terms of plot, but certainly entertaining and entertaining.
