"Break on through to the other side."
A castle, a garden with flowers and a threatening forest. So far the ingredients of a painting that the Painter has not finished for mysterious reasons. Three types of characters live in the painting: the All-Clears, who are finished to perfection, the Niafs, whose only colors are missing, and the Ruwlijners, who have never outgrown the sketch stage. Believing themselves to be superior, the All-Clears seize power and begin the hunt for the Niafs and the Ruwliners. Convinced that only the Painter can restore order by finishing the painting, Ramo, Lola and Veer decide to jump out of the painting to look for him.
