Bent over a large blank sheet of paper somewhere between Montmartre and Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Jean-Jacques Sempé and René Goscinny give birth to a laughing, mischievous boy, Little Nicolas. Between camaraderie, quarrels, fights, games, mischief and punishment galore, Nicolas lives a childhood full of joy and learning. As the story unfolds, the boy crawls into the workshop of his creators, challenging them with humor. Sempé and Goscinny tell him about their meeting, their friendship, but also about their careers, their secrets and their youth.
