Tintin et le Mystère de la Toison d'Or plot

Captain Haddock receives the message that his old friend Captain Paparanic has passed away and that he inherits his ship The Golden Fleece. The ship is in Istanbul and Tintin and Haddock are flying there. When they arrive, it turns out to be a small and rusty ship and Haddock is unsure whether he should accept the inheritance. On shore they meet Mr. Karabine, who wants to buy the ship for an exorbitant sum. Tintin, however, asks for time to think. A day later, Haddock receives a threatening phone call that bad things will happen if he doesn't sell the ship...

Nice movie, I think they made the characters from the comics and cartoons good in "real life". Talbot & especially Wilson play very well. also the music is good.

As far as I'm concerned, the best Tintin film, yes more fun than that hyper case of Spielberg. Not a Hergé original, only the characters were invented by him, but the Tintin cartoons are much too static and therefore do not do justice to the albums.

Tip for the Dutch watch it in the Flemish version, it is a film for young audiences and then that is allowed and at least we hear all Haddock swear words.

The story is pretty well thought out, although it lacks a bit of pace at times.

Tintin in Turkey and Greece and Tintin throws in some judo.

Tintin and the Secret of the Golden Fleece is a film that captures the atmosphere of the Tintin albums very well. Everything is good about this film: the story, the music, the beautiful locations (Turkey and Greece) and especially the actors.

Jean-Pierre Talbot and Georges Wilson are so good at their roles as Tintin and Captain Haddock that you forget that they are actors and not the real cartoon characters. Georges Loriot as Professor Calculus is also well cast and the dog who plays Bobbie never stays in his place, but it's white and it's cute so what more could you want?

The Belgian Jean-Pierre Talbot not only had the perfect looks to play Tintin, he also had the physical condition as he was a sports monitor on the beach of Ostend at the time. In 1964 he again got the lead role in a Tintin film (Tintin et les oranges bleues). Unfortunately, plans for a third Tintin film in this series fell through.
