The Silent One plot

"A Story of Superstition, Ignorance, Reason and Love."

A deaf-mute boy washes ashore on an island in the Pacific Ocean. Traditionally, these children were killed because they would bring bad luck. Partly due to the influence of Western ideas, the chieftain decides to let the child live, much against the will of the priest. When a disastrous drought breaks out, the population demands the boy's death.
