Without Spielberg.
An extremely entertaining and action-packed adventure film about an ordinary man who becomes a superhero. But this time with a more original angle than the average film with this theme. A pleasant dose of humor and lots of atmosphere are reminiscent of Spielberg's involvement, but nothing could be further from the truth. Indiana Jones is nevertheless a name that inevitably comes to mind.

Wonderful adventure film based on the Graphic Novel by Dave Stevens.
The film is set in the early 1940s and also breathes the atmosphere of the adventure serials from the 1930s. This is mainly due to the excellent art direction, which gives the film the right atmosphere. Bill Campbell plays the bold hero against his will. The fact that he can barely cope with his newly acquired hero status and often comes across as bumbling makes him all the more believable. Timothy Dalton can indulge himself in his villainous role and clearly enjoys it. His character is clearly inspired by great Hollywood actors such as Errol Flynn and Douglas Fairbanks. Jennifer Connelly provides the necessary feminine clean. In one of the supporting roles we see the six-foot-tall giant Tiny Ron, who, under a heavy layer of make-up, plays a character that is clearly based on horror actor Rondo Hatton, who had a grotesque face due to the disease acromegaly (and with this much success). had in the horror world).
An excellent film that never bores.

Mmm.
The Rocketeer should be given a chance just for the gorgeous poster. In my case, it was definitely the reason to watch the film. It is also the decoration that gives the film some charm. The setting is nice and The Rocketeer mainly scores its points with that.
Because otherwise I find it a bit poor. The adventure seems just too childish to me - in a busy way. But I also dislike the casting of protagonist Billy Campbell. It's a bit too wooden for me to conjure up any panache on the screen. He is otherwise decently surrounded by Timothy Dalton and the stunning Jennifer Connelly. Not that those actors have never done better, but they do fit perfectly in this film.
So a setback, but those who love Indiana Jones and co. can give this a chance.
