The Exile plot
"King of Adventure! Queen of Romance!"
England, 1660. The young King Charles II and his followers fled to Holland. They are on the run from the Puritans led by Oliver Cromwell. Charles spends his time at Katie's estate and falls in love with her. At Katie's estate, Charles, with the support of the French King Louis XIV, defeats his opponents led by Colonel Inghram, who must prevent his return to England. Charles is brought back to England by his followers, leaving Katie behind, and he is reinstated on the throne. Charles wants to put an end to the Puritans and the corruption in his country.
