Really different than what I expected. I expected some sort of adventure/survival movie with Ford, but it's not really. Emphasis on family film and on Buck and not on Ford. Very brave movie. Nice to watch with the kids and grandpa and grandma, but that's about it. I also found the images disappointing, it was mainly CGI.
If you are an adult looking for an adventure film, then I would leave this one. The movie isn't bad, but it was a disappointment.

Sympathetic adventure film. I will immediately mention the biggest objections: the CGI dog takes some getting used to, does not always feel 'real' and the film is not 100% convincing in terms of story. I can't say that I was really bothered by those points. Above all, The Call of the Wild is a very enjoyable, almost Disney-esque adventure film, obviously with the aim of entertaining the whole family. And in that mission I think the film succeeds very well, because my (our) attention was able to hold the film well. The film manages to move here and there and at other times it is a bit more light-hearted. The recordings are also at times magnificent. Harrison Ford may not play his most iconic role here, but he does it creditably. Omar Sy also plays his role very nicely. He looks a lot more comfortable here than in Inferno. Don't expect groundbreaking cinema, but I can't imagine starting with those expectations. I thought it was decent popcorn entertainment.

I had some doubts beforehand about the excessive use of CGI, but fortunately it is worth seeing. The disadvantage is that the dog sometimes shows too many human traits so that you no longer really believe it all. Just about everything is CGI in this movie; at one point I even wondered if Omar Sy and Harrison were Ford CGI characters too 
.... The makers didn't set foot in "the Wild" to start filming and a lot of bluescreens were added to the production pass. The dog was largely played by an actor, yes. Nice job.
Most of the time it looked nice, at other times very fake (fire in the hut, avalanche, the dog animation). On the other hand, maybe that's not such a bad idea that CGI-Buck...then you won't get pissed about animal abuse. Call of the Wild remains a fascinating animal-versus-human-versus-nature story, opinions remain divided but the result is quite impressive.
