"Ever since we've been here you've been so confident."
-"Well I'm the captain. That's my job. It's no good for me to go waving my arms in the air and screaming "Oh shit, we're gonna die!" That doesn't invoke much confidence, does it?"

Comedy isn't really my thing but this was quite a fun movie for a change.

Harrison Ford had a nice part here, although I've seen him in better ones. The umpteenth time he has anything to do with flying; a starship captain, an adventurer who CANNOT fly, a president on Air Force One and he recently had an accident with his private jet...

The movie was pretty well shot and the story was pretty nice. For a comedy, the film has quite a few serious moments. There are a few improbabilities in the story, the search for a crashed plane really doesn't stop after a few days (that really takes a few months), also pirates would never shoot with expensive ammunition at crashed tourists who are not even have money with you.

I really liked Randy Edelman's music.

Quite different from Ghostbusters, but an entertaining film.

“I've flown with you twice and you've crashed half the time.”

Nice adventurous rom-com. Harrison Ford and Anne Hecke are a very strange couple, but it works. Mainly because of the humorous bickering between the two (and Ford's charisma). The movie has a lot of subplots that don't work at all (Schwimmer, pirates), but the bickering and flirting between Ford and Hecke, in a tropical location, makes it a bit more enjoyable.

A rather dull and thin film for an icon like Harrison Ford. It's entertaining, but that's about all. The plot is bizarre at best when pirates suddenly appear in the film. So no Cast Away or The Blue Lagoon, but even with a bit of action and adventure. The young romantic couple is thus disturbed in their peace. The chemistry between Ford and Heche was okay during the bickering, but as a couple it looked a bit forced. Schwimmer is a total disaster. The humor is okay, but at times it is too thick. The nature and the images are beautiful, so the atmosphere is okay. And later in the film we are treated to a kiss scene a la James Bond or Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr in From Here to Eternity (1953), which is still nice.
