Chuck Lane is an American who works at a teak wood plantation in Burma. One day, he discovers stranded entertainer Arla Dean and offers her shelter at the plantation. There Arla meets Bill Gordon, who runs the land for the blind owner Renner. By pretending that Arla is his bride, Chuck gets her to stay. Arla's presence turns Chuck from a clumsy young man who loves alcohol to a sober young man in love. When Bill's fiancé Cynthia Harmon visits him, Bill realizes that he too is in love with Arla.
