Le Roman d'un Spahi plot

Jean Peyral, a native horseman in French service in North Africa, is deeply in love with the coquettish Cora. When he learns that she is cheating on him, he tries to kill himself, but the young, tender Fatou saves him from death. During a reconnaissance patrol, Jean is shot and Fatou allows himself to be buried in the sand with him.
