On Rio Galdez's remote plantation in the Brazilian Amazon resides a group of American and European fortune hunters, including former engineer Jerry Russell. Obsessed with the gold treasure of the Jivaro headhunters, Russell quit his job in the United States and left for Brazil. He is now drinking and hanging out with the local girl Maroa. He still gets letters from his former and attractive fiancée Alice Parker from California. Despite negative advice, Alice travels unannounced to the Amazon in the hope of marrying Russell. Disappointed with Russell, Alice turns to Galdez for support, only to hear that Russell is missing in the area of Jivaro headhunters.
