A nice adventure film, which takes a while to get going, but goes wild in the second half. Although it never really gets high, it is definitely entertaining to watch.

Gérard Philipe plays the leading role quite well. He is flamboyant and exudes something mischievous and boyish. I found Fanfan to show some similarities here and there with The Adventures of Robin Hood, although the latter is more fun, and above all better.

But Fanfan is certainly not bad. It is a pity that it is somewhat difficult to get started, but especially the last half hour is definitely worth it. Lots of speed, nice finds and funny situations. A film with few pretensions, but one that you can put on at any time. Simple, but quite fun.

Wonderfully old-fashioned film in which Gérard Philipe and Gina Lollobrigida shine. Gérard plays the flute with verve and Gina is not only a beautiful woman, but also has a stylish way of acting. With her warm appearance and charisma, she knows how to play her role very convincingly. The story is fun to follow and you notice that the whole cast is having fun.

The only downside are the wooden action scenes that seem dated. But thoroughly enjoyed a smooth, light-hearted film. 7/10

I didn't like this twice. A kind of French Zorro, but one that constantly thinks about women. I think it is mainly that much too cheerful and somewhat childish tone that disappointed me. . War is a laughingstock for the fluke. The girls, that is much more important, especially since a gypsy woman predicts something very strong in terms of love. Fortunately, there is still the panoramic view of Lollo's luscious bosom that saves it all a bit.

A French film in this genre (cloak-and-epee) that I really liked is Le Bossu (Film, 1959) which far superior to me in all areas. More intrigue, better filmed. As a classic I wanted to see Fanfan, but alas... NonNon..
