Ken is ten years old and lives with his uncle Nobuyuki, a violinist. Ken clearly has a talent for the violin and, like most children in this neglected area, his drunken uncle persuaded him to help out for a few extra bucks. One fateful night, Nobuyuki lets slip that Ken's father may not be dead, but is stuck in a hospital in Moscow. Soon a Russian circus comes to town and Ken strikes up a strange friendship with the friendly clown, eventually hiding out as a stowaway to search for his long-lost father in the Soviet Union.
