Greek Mike Petrakis and his son Tony make a living in Florida as sponge divers. Sponges are said to abound in the 12-mile reef, but the reef is known to be very dangerous. Mike is only prepared to dive into the treacherous reef after his boat is robbed by the Rhys brothers. However, it will be his death. Having fallen in love with Gwenneth Rhys, young Tony is determined to take over his father's business...
