"Blood Always Leaves a Trail."
A Chinese village during 1917 is one day ambushed by two bandits, only to be killed by a villager, Liu Jin-xi, after a fierce fight. During the autopsy, detective Xu Bai-jiu, who is tasked with investigating the case, discovers that one of the bandits is the dreaded Yan Dongsheng. The local magistrate is delighted, the villagers consider Liu a hero, but Xu cannot believe that a bandit of Yan Dongsheng's caliber can be killed by a simple villager with a bit of luck, and decides to investigate Liu's identity.
