The Spirit plot
The man from whom he had lessons in criminology and to whom he was like a son, dies after a violent attack and arson at his house. Denny Colt is devastated. The man's last project was to write a crime of the century book at the Roxton Museum, but most of the pages of the manuscript were taken by the attacker. However, when Denny goes to investigate, he is shot by an employee of the museum. He manages to escape seriously injured. After his so-called funeral, he puts on a mask and tackles criminals as The Spirit.
