Of course, this film has long since lost a chance due to all the negative publicity that has been hanging around the production for years, but I secretly like this type of film. It's small and it revolves around a small group of characters in a large mansion and are ostensibly protected from themselves and humanity. But is there more to it? The slow pace of the film helps develop the characters and I found each and every one of them interesting. This would not have been possible in a fast film. You now get to know the group well and sometimes it almost looked IT-like with the nightmares that the young people experience individually.. So I really can't fall for the movie. Of course it's not perfect and maybe it should have gone even fuller for the horror genre, but I'm not familiar with the source material, so I can't bear the critiques of the creator of the New Mutants.
For now, I think this is a fine X-Men farewell to Fox and this is the type of film I can appreciate. Do you expect big blockbuster entertainment? Please skip this movie.

Better than expected, especially after the reviews. New Mutants clearly focuses on 1 location with a limited number of characters without forcing a link to anything from the outside. You can expect a sequel (or that was the initial intention I think), but it won't be rammed down your throat.
What is striking is the cohesion of the characters, who are initially somewhat estranged from each other, but the actors are well attuned to each other. What happened is not that spectacular, but for the genre this is surprising. Necessary horror and mystery in it, it remains fascinating. If the first X-Men have an ending, this is already a lot better than Dark Phoenix.

Very mediocre movie. Can't really say much about it.
It just doesn't interest you anywhere, it's not really exciting or scary anywhere, the characters are flat and not deepened at all. They are, however, within no time and for no reason at all with each other ... that is. It just seems like a big important piece has been cut out.
Positive? The opening scene and the short playing time!
