Elvis plays Steve Grayson, a successful and compassionate racer. Everything seems to be going well for him, until he gets a tax inspector after him.

Standard work in the so-called "Elvis films" category but, partly due to the presence of Sinatra, certainly not the worst. Reasonable entertainment despite all the clichés and an average soundtrack on which one of the best songs is by Sinatra himself.

The last of the happy swinging sixties Elvis movies. It's the end of an era. The world and society are changing - the murder of Martin Luther King, Vietnam, Manson murders - and pop culture is changing too. Anyway, Speedway. A flick as we've come to expect from Elvis with all the ingredients present: he gets to play a racer again, there's sidekick Bill Bixby, contains a scene with a fight, scenes with cute children, there's humor and of course music. The songs are certainly good. Love interest Nancy Sinatra is also a plus. The evolution of her character may be less developed than previous films, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. She has a feel for this kind of comedy and is given the space to bring an uber-cool Lee Hazlewood composition. Elvis reportedly didn't have an off-screen relationship with Nancy, partly because he didn't want to offend his father Frank. But that's just hearsay.
So it's a typical 'something for everyone' film like they were only made in the sixties. Only for lovers of the genre.
