John Norton, a young lawyer, receives a telegram from an old supporter of the fraternity, Gary Payne, informing him that an old investment has now turned profitable. Norton's wife Kit doesn't trust Payne, but after a brief discussion, they retire for the evening. The next morning, Norton has a bump on his head and mysterious evidence that something is wrong. Showing signs of amnesia, Norton goes to the home of Charles Cantrell, his business partner. When Cantrell is found murdered, all evidence points to Norton. But is he really the culprit?
