Simple but fun and easy to watch! At times quite bland, but as a whole secretly quite nice. What you see is what you get.

Saw this film several times as a teenager, but even more than 10 years later I can still enjoy it (in the right mood of course!)

3*

“Do you actually believe the crap that comes out of your mouth?”

“I'm not really sure until I'm finished talkin'.”

Friendly. Martin Lawrence is on a roll, but his buddy cop thing with Zahn doesn't want to be really funny. Zahn and Lawrence are no Gibson and Glover, and especially in the beginning that becomes painfully clear right away. When there is a little more action and momentum in the film, and the shootings take the upper hand, the film also comes to life. Just in time, otherwise National Security wouldn't have been worth the look at all.

Bad.

Martin Lawrence at his most obnoxious; that pretty much sums it up. It is also telling, because the film does not escape a lot of noise and clamor and bustle, unfortunately without being comical. The interaction with Steve Zahn - who is actually only allowed to shine - is poor and that is deadly for an 'old-fashioned' buddy film.
