Film that does not achieve a satisfactory level in any respect and which collapses into the depths at a miserable speed.

The story is poorly developed. From one moment to the next, Inspector Gadget is made and without even thinking about things, the film continues. This is nothing more or less than a poor attempt at amusement.

The acting belongs to the 'worst performance' category. For example, 'Claw' is about the most annoying and unbelievable villain I've ever seen in action. His irritating laugh in particular drove me to the toilet several times. Nauseous actor.

But the rest doesn't do much better either. No character is sufficiently developed and has not even been given any depth or character. Superficial to.

The directing is atrocious. Nowhere to be found that was surprising or liked. Sometimes Gadget bumps into the camera while firing up one of his many knick-knacks. Terrible this.

Also by far the ugliest scene transitions I've ever seen. Could they really not find a better way? Ridiculous.

What is the point of this nonsense? They fail at anything. Not captivating, funny, quirky. Instead, I can only list a whole host of negative adjectives.

Failure.

Was a very bad movie indeed with a very bad Matthew Broderick who was totally unsuited for this role. For example, if Jim Carrey had played the role of Inspector Gadget, the film would undoubtedly have been more fun, but of course people would have said that this film would be too much like "The Mask". It's great that this film is labeled as an Action / Comedy because it's not more like a family/children's film and then also a very bland one. Visually it often looks weak. The scene when he was hanging from the bridge looked more like a 60's/70's scene than a 1999 scene.

PS Rupert Everett as villain might have been even worse as Matthew Broderick.

Pretty worthless. I think the cartoon series had excellent possibilities for a nice film adaptation, at least as a light (family) comedy. But it just goes to show that a bunch of non-talent put together can mess up everything. Inspector Gadget has become a kitschy toddler print that gets on the nerves remarkably quickly for a slightly older viewer. Claw, in the series a great character with the same voice, is portrayed very blandly and you could not have imagined a worse protagonist than that living bag of cement from a Matthew Broderick. Great for children under 3 years old.
