Nice viewer who also knows how to ask pressing questions to the viewer. Linklater is accompanied by a perfect cast and knows how to keep the audience interested. Click here for an extensive review.

I had a great time with this latest film from Linklater; super entertaining from start to finish, but more than that Hitman really has something to say. About identity and its construction and how we all just play a role in life. Or rather; different roles depending on the situation we are in. Obviously a bit caricatured and absurdist-funny in the film, through the different characters that Gary plays, but with a striking core. There is perhaps some unnecessary fat in the middle section (the relationship did not need to be drawn out so long, although the chemistry between the two is really infectious and fantastically put together) and the ending is a bit too Well, how should I put it, dark and sweet at the same time? As if Linklater didn't quite know which direction to choose and so he took both paths. I could live with the ending, sure, but it's not as strong as the rest of the film.

Glenn Powell gives a fantastic performance by the way, what a charismatic, funny, absurd and yet catchy role. He flawlessly portrays all the different sides of Gary, from the dimp in the beginning, to the cool casanova in the form of Ron, to a calculated killer at the end. The chemistry with Adria Arjona is also very infectious, as I said. I haven't seen Powell act before, but I'm an instant fan. Also a nice film to see on the big screen, I'm glad I caught it before it appears on Netflix. Beautifully and steadfastly filmed, visually a wonderful vibe, the atmosphere was perfect.

It's actually a real 3.75* film, but I'm still going to round it up just to the detriment of the film. In any case, a big 3.5*.

Nice film that starts off very lukewarm (and in my opinion a bit strange in terms of tone - I really thought a joke was being made about that part-time job with the police, but that was serious) but slowly gets better. Especially once Arjona appears on the scene, she and Powell really have chemistry, which makes their scenes together a lot better and more fascinating than the beginning. Still very well behaved and safe but entertaining enough. Linklater also doesn't seem to be able to quite choose the tone and now the film is neither meat nor fish. Nice at times, but never completely dramatic, never really exciting, never really hot or even romantic. In any case, the film remains surprising in that you never really know which direction the film will take and that still gives the film a sufficient direction towards the end, even though I was quite bored for the first half hour. 3.0*.
