In the beginning we see the president and her entourage passing by and we see her practicing martial arts in the garden of the White House. As a viewer you wonder: who from the ranks we just saw turns out to be a traitor and will she still use martial arts? This is such a film. Not a shred of originality in this mix between Die Hard and Air Force One and the film has no moment that surprises even a little. Davis is okay as the president. A good actress but I usually prefer to see her in a supporting role (and you miss a John McClane or even Gerard Butler here) but she radiates a certain dignity and that suits this role well. The rest of the cast is so-so. Only the whole cast often slumps, is dull and the action is reasonably professionally made but not impressive either. 1.5*.

Mediocre action film. The story is very weak and stolen from all sorts of other Die Hard clones. The extra addition that the female American president plays the lead role adds nothing more than some laughable action scenes. The elaboration is otherwise quite neat and the film is easy to watch. The action scenes are not very spectacular but otherwise look good. It is not due to the budget. It is simply far from original and that a 17 year old child is a kind of key figure is laughable. Visually, as mentioned, fairly tight design. The acting is passable, but Davis as an action heroine... well, no, don't do it again. 3.0

The most powerful world leaders gather in Cape Town. They are taken hostage by terrorists. Among the hostages is the President of the United States (Viola Davis). The President turns out to be a real action hero. The film has nothing to do with reality. Yet it is apparently intended to take the nonsensical plot and the ridiculous action hero seriously. In any case, I could not detect a shred of relativism in the course of the film.

The United States saves the world once again. Yet another film that weaves a stupid plot around this form of self-overestimation. We roll our eyes and know what to expect. Now let's hope that the action scenes still have something to offer. Davis' physique surprised me. With a bit of good will, it is conceivable that she would be able to defend herself in a fight. The action scenes themselves are not very exciting. They are poorly staged and suffer from poor choreography. If you want to see good action scenes, you should watch another film. As a fan of Davis, you are in the right place, because she (dressed in a chic evening dress) holds her own excellently in the unimaginative battle against the terrorists.

In short. G20 is a nonsensical film that swings back and forth between boring, laughable and annoying. G20 is a very ridiculous film.
