Fair flop. Something that works in anime doesn't have to work directly in live action. There are of course examples (Fist Of The North Star) that prove that it is possible, but Dragonball Evolution is a downright annoying sit. Not only does the script rattle on all sides, but it's all so exaggerated that it's not funny, just downright annoying. The course of the story is messy and rushed. It seems very stupid when after two decades one suddenly has to find all the dragon balls. Perhaps the worst part is that for an action movie, the action is downright horrific, or at least the fast shots with movements that martial arts is supposed to represent. Pretty disastrous, but that goes for the entire movie.

This is one of those typical movies where you have to let go of the genius cartoon. Once you've done that, you'll be left with a very entertaining film! It's nothing special, the storyline is rushed and the acting occasionally leaves a lot to be desired, but he has clearly been able to entertain me. I do recommend everyone to watch it twice, not because it's so good or difficult, but more because the second time you already know it's a B movie. That was the case with me too and couldn't enjoy it the first time either.

One of the worst live action anime adaptations ever.

the only good thing about this movie is that akira toriyama hated it so much that his love for dragonball was rekindled, giving us dragonball super.
