"Chip Happens"
Francis "Poncho" Poncherello and Jon Baker work as motorcycle cops with the California Highway Patrol (CHiPs). Working in and around Los Angeles, they monitor speeders and car thieves, assist stranded motorists, assist paramedics in accidents, and sometimes assist with investigations. They soon find themselves in a situation like no other when a sadistic former cop and his hit man wreak havoc on the city.

Reasonable comedy with a nice cast. It's not really hilarious, unfortunately, but there are quite a few funny scenes in it. A fairly standard but still quite entertaining film.

I grew up with the TV series, but didn't really like it that much. Lots of seventies/eighties kitsch with always weak storylines, even as a teenager I couldn't appreciate that at the time. Perhaps that's why this new interpretation was not so bad for me. CHiPs certainly didn't become a top film, but if you're in a corny mood you can appreciate the richly present bland humor. Action is adequately filmed, so you can forget that this too is actually a story of nothing. The two protagonists do indeed have a clear chemistry, on the other hand it is a testament to poverty that D'onofrio has been cast again for the 100,000th as a slightly crazy villain .
Types of such a film that used to be consciously dumped in the cinemas during the summer period: A little thing that won't bother many people and even gives some people a good feeling, but which you have already forgotten when you leave the theater .
